A minor accident is stressful even when nobody is hurt. Here is what to do, in order, so the repair goes smoothly.
At the scene
- Check for injuries and get safe. If the cars can be moved, pull out of traffic and turn on your hazard lights.
- Call the police if needed. A police report helps your insurance claim, especially if the other driver disputes what happened.
- Exchange information. Get the other driver’s name, phone, insurance company and policy number, and plate number.
- Take photos. Photograph both vehicles, the damage up close, the plates, and the scene.
The same day
- Report the claim to your insurance company, or to the other driver’s company if they were at fault. Write down the claim number.
- Decide where to get it repaired. Your insurer may suggest a shop, but the choice is yours. You can bring your car to Finish Pros in Dallas or Marietta.
Getting the estimate
Stop by either shop Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, for a free written estimate. Bring your claim number and any insurance estimate you already have. If the damage is minor, we’ll tell you whether paying out of pocket might cost less than your deductible.
While your car is in the shop
We work with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to help you arrange a rental, and we work directly with your adjuster if we find hidden damage once the repair starts. When the work is done, it’s backed by our limited lifetime warranty.
